Working With An Instrument

I have to give props to those who have dedicated most of their lives to learning an instrument, because I sure have given up on my guitar after about a month of learning just the chords a maybe one or two songs.

Even though I have even less time on my hands with college and planning out my career as my graduation date gets near, it was honestly still pretty fun plucking away at my guitar. Going through the catalogue of songs I wanted to learn was mesmerizing and playing the basic melody of a new one was a good challenge, even when I was terrible at it. Maybe when life balances out and I get another crumb of free time, I'll pick up my dusty electric guitar again.

For those who are considering picking up an instrument, I'd say it's definitely worth the try if you have the time to commit. Not only is it a great way to express yourself creatively, One of the most rewarding aspects of playing an instrument is the sense of accomplishment you feel when you finally master a new piece. It's a tangible goal that you can work towards, and the progress, no matter how small, is incredibly motivating.

If you're getting discouraged or lost, just remember that everyone starts somewhere. Even the most talented professional musicians had to begin with those very first tentative notes. Don't be too hard on yourself if it doesn't click right away, as it's a journey, not a destination. And you never know? You might find yourself discovering an entirely new interest that fills you with joy and purpose.
